September 2024: Club Reds
1. Poggerino Chianti Classico Riserva 2020
Poggerino’s finest wine is from old sangiovese vines in their best plot. It sees a long two year elevage. Antonio Galloni of Vinous calls it “potent, brooding wine.” This will cellar for another 5 years easily if needed, but with a decanter will be delicious today

Available: $45/bot ($36 w/ followup coupon)
2. Ragot Givry Vieilles Vignes 2022
Our newest red Burgundy producer is one of our most exciting. Based in Givry in the Côte Chalonnaise, Nicolas Ragot runs a small domaine producing top notch Burgundy at a remarkable price. His old-vine Givry uses 20% whole clusters; the nose is deep and perfumed, with perfectly coated tannin.

Pairing: steak frites
Available: $39/bot ($31.20 w/ followup coupon)
3. Sanzay Saumur-Champigny “Beauregard” 2020
The 50+ year old vines contribute impressive richness, given its oak elevage, this is more than a little Burgundian. Look for notes of wild cherry jam and graphite.
