APRIL 2025 CLUB PLUS WHITES
1. Forces Telluriques Viré-Clessé 22
GRAPE: 100% Chardonnay
TYPE: Biodynamic white Burgundy from the Mâconnais
YEAR: 2022, sunny and dry
NOTES: The Forces Telluriques vines are between 30 and 100 years old, producing gorgeous, concentrated juice. The wine is raised in enameled vats without any oak. The 2022 vintage is superb, round and full in the mouth yet offering memorable lemony freshness (the alcohol level is just 13%). There is plenty of complexity, as mineral notes join the fruit; and the wine persists on the palate beautifully. Jasper Morris writes: “deliciously floral…amazing how such a luxurious style of chardonnay can retain elegance.”
FOOD: Comté or roasted squash with sage
AVAILABLE: $42/bot ($33.6 with discount)
2. Bohrmann Puligny-Montrachet “Grands Champs” 2022
GRAPE: 100% Chardonnay
TYPE: village level White Burgundy from Puligny-Montrachet
YEAR: 2022, ripe and balanced
NOTES: Sofie’s village-level Puligny Montrachet is one of the secret gems of her domaine. Puligny often requires several years to become accessible, but this cuvée drinks well (and classically) from the start. There’s a delicate spine of Puligny stones behind the intense fruit – think pears and green apple – but with accessible mouthfeel and a friendly bouquet.
FOOD: Seared scallops with beurre blanc
AVAILABLE: $88/bot ($70.4 with discount)
3. Collet Valmur Grand Cru 22
GRAPE: 100% Chardonnay
TYPE: Grand Cru Chablis from Kimmeridgian limestone
YEAR: 2022, rich and sunny
NOTES: Lots of Chablis has gotten richer in recent vintages, and some cuvées have fallen into the overoaking trap. But Valmur has always been big wine, with more than enough structure to handle barrel aging. The nose shows explosive and delicious, showing gardenia, green tea, and baked lemon flavors, with a bright chalky stoniness that enhances the fruit. The mouth is simply packed with flavor — it’s bold and rich, but vibrant in texture. A grand wine for a grand occasion.
FOOD: Lobster
