1. Morey Chassagne 1er Cru “Embrazées” 2022
GRAPE: 100% Chardonnay
TYPE: Côte d’Or White Burgundy
YEAR: 2022, hot and dry
NOTES: The vines in Chassagne 1er cru “Embrazées” are 63 years old, planted by Thomas’s grandfather in a field that had been abandoned after phylloxera. The 2022 is a stunner—long and lithe with deep fruit channeled beautifully into a concentrated core that ripples with energy and intensity. Morey’s usual restraint is in effect, and the wine is rich without an ounce of heaviness.
FOOD: Veal chops in a white wine sauce
AVAILABLE: $99/bot ($79.2 with discount)

2. Thomas St-Aubin 1er “Murgers” 2022
GRAPE: 100% Chardonnay
TYPE: Côte d’Or White Burgundy
YEAR: 2022, hot and dry
NOTES: Gérard Thomas’s 2022 St-Aubin “Murgers” shows terrific concentration, with ripe lemon fruit blending perfectly into a chiseled mineral core. On the palate, it’s crackling and savory, with a long and tense finish that’s vibrant and lithe. Jancis Robinson’s reviewer found it “rich, creamy and inviting… lots of spice on the palate,” concluding “fresh, flavorful and full of fruit.”
FOOD: Crabcakes
AVAILABLE: $55/bot ($44 with discount)

3. Bonnefond Condrieu 2020
GRAPE: 100% Viognier
TYPE: Unoaked Northern Rhône White
YEAR: 2020, warm and dry
NOTES: Bonnefond’s Condrieu is as good as they come—an opulent bouquet of white peach flowers, and on the palate, rich, ripe fruit with an exotic touch: mango, apricot, and pineapple. Condrieu isn’t meant for laying down, which is a good thing because you will want to keep reaching for a bottle of this.
FOOD: Asparagus quiche
AVAILABLE: $58/bot ($46.4 with discount)
