MARCH 2025 CLUB WHITES
*Sorry no video tasting notes this month, we’re over in France on a tasting trip

1. Giroux Pouilly-Loché 2020
GRAPE: 100% Chardonnay
TYPE: Unoaked organic Chardonnay from the Mâconnais
YEAR: 2020, warm and dry
NOTES: This neighbor to Pouilly-Fuissé in the Mâconnais often produces wines of excellent value. The 2020 vintage spent a year in 40% oak, followed by 18 months’ élevage en cuve. The wine has a certain lacey delicacy, with a touch of salinity and a note of lemon peel. It is of medium weight—a wine of finesse rather than power.
FOOD: Pork chops in mustard sauce
AVAILABLE: $29/bot ($23.2 with discount)

2. Bohrmann St-Romain 1er 2022
GRAPE: 100% Chardonnay
TYPE: Côte d’Or white Burgundy
YEAR: 2022, very hot and dry
NOTES: St-Romain sits about 400-500 feet higher in elevation than Meursault, a real advantage in Burgundy’s new hot, dry summer climate. Sofie acquired the Clos Sous le Chateau vineyard a decade ago, and it was a smart choice. Her 2022 St-Romain is a delicate, delicious combination of ripeness and zip—less creamy and soft than St-Aubin, but with her signature polish.
FOOD: Butter-basted fish
AVAILABLE: $49/bot ($39.2 with discount)

3. Gautheron Chablis 1er “Fourneaux” 2022
GRAPE: 100% Chardonnay
TYPE: Classic unoaked white Burgundy from Chablis
YEAR: 2022, hot and dry
NOTES: The Fourneaux premier cru 2022 regular cuvée was raised without any oak. In weight, it is more Puligny than Meursault, to borrow a comparison from the Côte d’Or. The nose shows subtle ripe fruit, leaning orchard over citrus. Its combination of ripeness and elegance is hard to beat—a traditional Chablis with excellent freshness in a ripe vintage.
FOOD: Scallops; Comté cheese
AVAILABLE: $42/bot ($33.6 with discount)
