1. Amiot Coteaux-Bourguignons 2022
GRAPE: 50/50 Pinot Noir & Gamay
TYPE: Unusual Burgundian blend from Morey-St-Denis
YEAR: 2022, hot and dry
NOTES: Léon Amiot makes beautiful organic cuvées from high end properties in Morey-St-Denis and Gevrey-Chambertin, but this humble, traditional Burgundian blend is unserious and delightful, combining the rugged character of gamay with the elegance of Pinot; serve slightly cool
FOOD: Serve with chili or salmon
AVAILABLE: $32/bot ($25.6 w/ followup coupon)

2. Fleuron de Liot St-Estèphe 2022
GRAPE: 50% Merlot, 50% Cabernet Sauvignon
TYPE: Left-bank Bordeaux from a famous appellation
YEAR: 2022, hot and dry
NOTES: When we visited last spring, Negrier told us that 2022 was unequivocally the best vintage in the domaine’s 30 year history. The wine is utterly delicious and should age very well. Right now this well-balanced wine is inky and dark, showing black cherry and cassis fruit. There is excellent density: the fine tannins coat the mouth and persist on the palate.
FOOD: Serve with steak frites, and decant for at least an hour
Available: $35/bot ($28 w/ followup coupon)

3. Poggerino Chianti Classico Riserva 19
GRAPE: 100% sangiovese
TYPE: Chianti Classico raised in oak barrels
YEAR: 2019, long and balanced growing season, warm and ideal
NOTES: From a leading producer in the area, this is rich and full bodied, with dark red fruit and mouth-filling roundness. Antonio Galloni of Vinous called it “dark, powerful wine, . . . impressive, especially in terms of its depth and overall substance.”
FOOD: Serve with lamb, or bolognese pasta
Available: $42/bot ($33.6 w/ followup coupon)
