Bohrmann Gevrey-Chambertin 18

$95

Bohrmann doesn’t sound very French, and it isn’t — Sofie Borhmann is Belgian, and splits her time between Belgium and Burgundy. We’re not sure where she’s been hiding, or why no other American importers have found her. But her wines simply blew us away.

The 2018 vintage shows beautifully dark ripe fruit. It is very Côte de Nuits, with deep earthy flavor and briary notes. There’s plenty of black currant fruit and the promise of interesting aromas to come as the wine takes on a few years of age. For wines of power and longevity, Gevrey is the big dog of the Côte d’Or.
