Boyer-Martenot Puligny-Montrachet 1er “Cailleret” 22
$295
Vincent Boyer and his sister Sophie are the winemakers at this gem of an estate in Meursault. They farm a mouthwatering collection of vines in and around Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, including all three famous Meursault premier crus. They farm organically, and use a long elevage in barrels then concrete eggs to give their wines a regal depth and complexity. These are some of our favorite white Burgundies from anywhere.
Puligny-Montrachet 1er cru “Cailleret” is a tiny five-owner premier cru just stone’s throw from the Grand Cru Chevalier Montrachet. The nose is extremely Puligny, intensely concentrated and very fine. The mouth shows superb tension over a core of dry stone fruit and faint spice. Burghound found “voluminous, sappy and intensely mineral-driven middleweight flavors,” calling it an “extremely classy and elegant wine.”
